Transfer Admission Process

Transfer students are considered for rolling admission—there’s no deadline to apply and you can be considered for Fall, Winter, or Summer admission for most of Detroit Mercy’s undergraduate programs.  We do recommend applying at least one month prior to your desired start date for scholarship opportunities.  The application fee is waived for all transfer students!

How to Apply

1Review Admission Requirements

General admission requirements for transfer students include a 2.0 cumulative GPA in previous college work and at least 24 transferable credits. Individual academic programs may also require successful completion of specific courses and higher GPA guidelines.

If you have fewer than 24 transferable credits, we’ll consider your high school achievement as well.

2Submit an Application

Once you’ve filled out the application, you’ll need to send in official transcripts from each school you’ve previously attended. Within in 48 hours of receiving your transcripts, we will contact you with an admission decision and you’ll be on your way to the next step in your journey. Apply Now >

3Review Resources

There are many available resources to help you along your journey to becoming a student at Detroit Mercy. Our transfer guides are useful to assess where you stand with credit equivalencies. You should also review your scholarships and financial aid eligibility, and schedule a campus visit that is tailored for transfer students!
